Copy Editor

My high school yearbook took first place at the National Yearbook Competition.

My hometown’s local newspaper wrote an article on our book’s success.

As a teacher’s assistant to my favorite English teacher, I graded essays and tutored kids who needed extra help with grammar and sentence structure. This caught the attention of my graphic design teacher, and I was invited to be the Copy Editor of the yearbook for my senior year.

As Copy Editor, I reviewed all 224 pages for spelling and grammar, wrote and revised articles and captions, and supervised the section editors whose deadlines determined my own.

The end product won Most Outstanding Yearbook at the American Scholastic Press Association competition. This is the highest award a high school yearbook can win.

The “end credits” of the yearbook features cards for every yearbook staff member. As President of our film program, my card of course features the room I spent most of my four years in. Aesthetically malfunctioning printer and 3D glasses not included.
