The Siren

As Secretary of The Reel Society, I wrote our newsletter to members and was dubbed the club’s “Editor in Chief.”

The Reel Society was founded my senior year of college as Chapman University’s first club focused on promoting diverse creatives within our film school. I came on as a founding board member, and as Secretary I created our monthly newsletter.

Initially, the club was called “The She Wolf Society” and the newsletter was called “The Siren” to match the girl-power theme. At the end of the first semester, I petitioned the rest of the board to change the club name to be more inclusive. Once the name changed to the Reel Society, the newsletter changed to a mass email, but these initial issues were a crucial part of building our membership.
